7 situations
LED Displays are
perfect for...

  • Your screen size needs to be over 3 metres

  • All outdoor areas for large screen installs

  • In a large reception, or high mounted space

  • Stage and exhibition areas

  • Where viewers are always more than 3 metres away

  • High bright or sunny areas

  • Any large area screen

For a 3 Metre+ screen, why would I choose LED over LCD?

Create real Impact, LED Displays are bigger and brighter with much richer colours. With an uninterrupted Direct Lit LED light which has no LCD glass or front facia, you have a seamless reflection free surface that really pops.

LED wall displays are inherently brighter units. They are made up of thousands of very bright individual LEDs bulbs, designed to be visible in bright sunlight. Which is why LED displays are the best choice for all outdoor LED Display needs. For indoor use because LED is much brighter, it really packs a punch and stands out bright against LCD screens.

LED screens are made up of smaller individual modules/led panels which fix together to create a seamless large screen display. With LCD screens, even using the smallest of bezels the joins are still visible. Plus the thinnest the bezel the more delicate and fragile the screens are. If not handled with care they are easily damaged.

LED modules are more durable and robust, they are easier to service and replacement of damaged or faulty parts is a simpler process than replacing a whole LCD unit.

LED - Big Creativity

Using LED you can achieve a seamless screen, using LED modules, your creativity is endless. LED systems come in smaller cabinets than LCD screens which allows for more diverse sizing, which can also curve around a structure offering huge creative digital potential.

For example, you can create a box made with LED modules, shop frontages have been wrapped in LED screens, creating a real wow factor. Offering you quality products with local UK service and support. Our AV specialists and experienced installation team will provide a complete end to end service.

What is Direct Lit & Pixel Pitch?

Direct Lit, means the lights (bulbs) sit on the front of the screen, with LCD they are back lit. An LED Display is a large screen, made up of cabinets, within these cabinet sit a series of LED modules, these modules are made up of clusters of LED lights.

Resolution in LED technology is described as pixel pitch, this is the distance between each LED bulb cluster. The cabinets fit together with the modules to create a seamless large screen. LED Display screens offer more versatility in module size, than an LCD screen (usually set at 49” or 55”).

As the LED modules are smaller, they are easier to remove and replace. LED Displays are brighter than a regular LCD Video Wall screen, which in turn creates more impactful video wall displays with fantastic image quality.

LED Video Walls

What is the difference between an LED video wall and an LCD video wall? The main difference between LED video walls and LCD video walls lies in the technology used to display the content. LED (Light Emitting Diode) video walls consist of individual LED modules that emit light, forming a seamless and vibrant display. LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) video walls, on the other hand, utilize LCD panels with backlighting to display the content. LED video walls generally offer higher brightness, better contrast ratios, wider viewing angles, and flexibility in design compared to LCD video walls. However, LCD video walls can have advantages like lower power consumption and cost. Each technology has its strengths and determining which is best for your specific needs will depend on factors such as budget, installation requirements, and desired image quality.

How do I install a video wall? The installation of a video wall may vary based on the specific requirements of the display system and the environment. It is advisable to consult professional audio-visual installers (such as those at Windsor Displays) who have experience in installing video walls. They can provide guidance and ensure proper installation. Different types of video walls may have specific installation processes, including mounting brackets, connecting cables, and configuring the display system. As a complex task involving electrical connections and precise alignment, expert installers will ensure a safe and accurate installation, maximizing the performance and longevity of the video wall.

How much does an LED video wall cost in the UK? The cost of an LED video wall in the UK depends on various factors, including the size, resolution, pixel pitch, and additional features. It is difficult to provide an exact price without specific requirements. However, as a general estimate, LED video walls can range from a few thousand pounds to tens of thousands of pounds. For more accurate pricing, please get in touch with us to discuss your requirements.

How long do LED walls last? LED walls are known for their longevity and durability. The lifespan of an LED wall can vary depending on several factors, including the quality of the LED modules, usage patterns, and environmental conditions. High-quality LED walls can last between 50,000 to 100,000 hours of usage. This equates to approximately 5 to 11 years of continuous operation. Regular maintenance and proper usage can also contribute to extending the lifespan of an LED wall. It is advisable to consult the manufacturer's guidelines and follow recommended practices for optimal performance and longevity.
