Creating a Large-Scale Digital Feature Within a Glass Office Environment

Windsor Displays were approached by Investis, a global digital communications company, to design and install a Video Wall solution within their London office located on Fashion Street.

The objective was to create a high-impact digital display that would:

• enhance the visitor experience,

• showcase promotional video content,

• reinforce the company’s creative digital identity,

• and conceal a large internal glass structure positioned centrally within the office space.

The project required a creative structural solution due to the unique architectural environment and the limitations of mounting directly onto glass.

The Brief – A Video Wall Visible from the Entrance

Investis wanted to install a 3 x 3 LCD video wall positioned around the central glass lift structure within the open-plan ground floor office.

The display needed to:

• be clearly visible from the main entrance,

• create visual impact within the reception environment,

• and display looped promotional content showcasing Investis Digital’s work and capabilities.

The office itself featured a distinctive open-plan layout, including staff bicycle parking and exposed architectural elements, creating a highly modern and creative workspace environment.

A large-format Freestanding Video Wall solution was identified as the ideal approach to achieve the desired scale and visibility.

Why Direct Mounting onto Glass Was Not Possible

The client’s original request was to mount the LCD video wall directly onto the glass wall surrounding the lift structure. However, during our technical site survey, Windsor Displays identified that this would not be a viable or safe installation method.

Commercial LCD video wall systems become extremely heavy once:

• display panels,

• mounting structures,

• processing hardware,

• and supporting components are combined.

Glass structures are generally unsuitable for supporting this level of concentrated load without specialist engineering and structural redesign.

Following detailed assessment, Windsor Displays proposed a bespoke Freestanding Video Wall structure that would:

• safely support the displays independently,

• avoid loading the glass structure,

• and still achieve the desired visual appearance and positioning.

Designing the Freestanding Video Wall Solution

The bespoke freestanding structure allowed the video wall to sit directly in front of the glass lift area while remaining structurally independent from the surrounding architecture.

This approach provided several advantages:

• safe structural support,

• concealed cable management,

• improved installation flexibility,

• future service access,

• and a clean professional finish.

The completed installation created a striking digital feature within the centre of the office space while also visually masking the large glass lift structure behind it.

The system was connected to a dedicated media player, allowing Investis to display:

• promotional videos,

• branded content,

• digital campaigns,

• and engaging motion graphics on a continuous loop.

Future Relocation & Reconfiguration

One of the major long-term advantages of the Freestanding Video Wall design became clear when Investis later relocated offices.

Because the system had been designed as a freestanding installation rather than permanently integrated into the architecture, Windsor Displays were able to:

• remove the existing video wall,

• relocate the hardware,

• and reinstall the displays within the new office environment.

To suit the new space requirements, the LCD video walls were reformatted into a 2 x 2 configuration mounted onto freestanding stands.

This flexible approach ensured:

• minimal hardware redundancy,

• reduced waste,

• improved long-term value,

• and continued use of the original commercial display investment.

The Result

The completed Freestanding Video Wall installation successfully delivered Investis’ objective to communicate powerful brand stories through dynamic digital content.

The display created:

• a visually impactful office feature,

• engaging visitor communications,

• and a strong digital focal point within the workspace.

The project demonstrated how a professionally designed Freestanding Video Wall solution can overcome architectural limitations while still delivering a premium visual experience.
