Digital Signage for Experience Centres

Creating Immersive Visitor Communications Through Digital Signage

Zip World has become one of the UK’s most exciting adventure tourism destinations, offering visitors unforgettable outdoor experiences across the dramatic landscapes of North Wales.

The business wanted to ensure its visitor centres reflected the same energy, excitement, and sense of adventure as the experiences themselves, in a modern way.

Windsor Displays were approached to provide a complete Signage solution for the opening of Zip World’s first major visitor centre in 2017.

The objective was to create engaging communications that would:

• inspire visitors upon arrival,

• educate guests on experiences and safety,

• promote future attractions,

• and reinforce the Zip World brand throughout the visitor journey.

The Brief - Signage for Experience Centres

The visitor centre required a range of displays capable of supporting both:

• customer engagement,

• and operational communications.

The screens needed to:

• create visual impact within the entrance area,

• display promotional adventure content,

• support visitor information and safety messaging,

• and communicate future expansion plans for additional Zip World locations across Wales.

It was decided Digital Signage screens were the ideal option, with majority of their customer being young and youthful, a modern approach was needed - Digital Signage for Experience Centres

As a fast-growing tourism business, Zip World also required the ability to remotely manage and update all content from their off-site marketing office.

This meant the solution needed to provide:

• remote content management,

• flexible scheduling,

• simple updating,

• and reliable long-term operation.

A tailored Digital Signage for Experience Centres solution was designed to meet both the visual and operational requirements of the site.

Video Wall Installation for the Entrance Area

One of the key features of the installation was a 2x2 LCD video wall positioned within the main entrance area.

The video wall was designed to immediately immerse visitors in the Zip World experience from the moment they entered the building.

The large-format display showcased:

• dramatic adventure footage,

• aerial zip line videos,

• brand campaigns,

• promotional visuals,

• and upcoming attraction information.

Using motion-led content across multiple displays helped create a strong emotional connection with visitors before their activities even began.

The video wall also reinforced the premium, modern identity of the visitor centre itself.

Large Format Digital Displays Within Visitor Preparation Areas

In addition to the entrance video wall, Windsor Displays also supplied and installed:

• a large 70” 4K commercial display,

• along with three additional high-mounted digital signage screens.

These displays were positioned within the visitor kitting-out and preparation areas where guests received:

• equipment,

• safety briefings,

• and activity information prior to their experiences.

The screens were used to display:

• safety instructions,

• visitor guidance,

• promotional content,

• location information,

• and branded media.

Using Digital Signage for Experience Centres within these areas helped improve:

• visitor engagement,

• communication clarity,

• and overall customer experience.

Remote CMS Content Management

A key requirement of the project was the ability for Zip World’s marketing team to remotely manage all display content across the site.

Windsor Displays implemented a digital signage CMS platform allowing the client to:

• update content remotely,

• schedule promotional campaigns,

• manage safety messaging,

• and control all screens from their central marketing office.

This provided complete flexibility to:

• update seasonal promotions,

• advertise new attractions,

• display event messaging,

• and refresh visitor communications as often as required.

Remote content management remains one of the biggest advantages of professional Digital Signage for Experience Centres, particularly for multi-site visitor attractions.

Collaboration with Builders & IT Teams

The installation required close coordination with:

• building contractors,

• site management,

• and Zip World’s internal IT team.

As the visitor centre was approaching its launch date, all systems needed to be:

• installed,

• configured,

• tested,

• and commissioned prior to the grand opening.

Careful planning ensured:

• cable infrastructure,

• network connectivity,

• mounting positions,

• and CMS integration

were completed smoothly within the construction schedule.

The Result

The completed Digital Signage for Experience Centres installation successfully transformed the visitor environment within Zip World’s attraction centre.

The digital displays now:

• inspire visitors before their adventures begin,

• deliver and reinforce safety messaging,

• create stronger brand engagement,

• and increase awareness of the company’s expanding range of attractions and locations.

The installation helped create a far more immersive and professional visitor experience while supporting Zip World’s continued growth across Wales.
